Patriots Equal Longest Victory Run Since Brady Years with Triumph Against Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five TDs in the present year
New England matched their longest winning run since the Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the Patriots claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Tom Brady's last year with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Maye accumulated 281 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory increases the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine victories against two losses, with the New York bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had taken the lead at their home field with QB Fields rushing for a short rushing score to cap the Jets' opening drive
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third period to make it 21-7
"It was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," Maye said of Henderson. "He desires to be great."
Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales booted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side sealed the win
